Friend in Christ / A Spiritual Organization

Friend in Christ is a spiritual organization that was established August 1988 by eight former high school classmates. It started with a call to Evangelist Jill Landry by God for his service to help meet the need of his people. This call was shared with the others and they willfully decided to follow the call of God also. The ladies are members of different churches located from Baton Rouge, Donaldsonville, Vacherie, St James, Thibodaux and Texas. Other members are Minister Melba Oubre, Minister Jessica Geason, Minister Patricia Dennis, Minister Donna Whittington, Minister Lolita Turner, Minister Deedra Grant, Minister Betty Dennis, and Evangelist Brenda Taylor.

Friends in Christ meets at different members’ home for fellowship and bible study. They pooled their personal funds along with fund raiser monies to give to those who are in need. A prayer line was established and lead by Minister Melba Oubre.

Mission Statement:

Friends in Christ mission is to comfort and encourage the people of God by demonstrating the power of God’s word. We will work together by interceding through prayers for those who are weak in spirit, soul, and body, by teaching the word of God, encouraging them by testifying of His goodness, and by assisting to meet their financial needs.

Vision Statement:

Friends in Christ's vision is to make a difference in the lives of God’s people by demonstrating God’s everlasting friendship toward mankind. Our ultimate goal is for seeing God's people living a victorious life in the midst of their storms and for them to look forward to an everlasting existence with the Holy Trinity.
